LCV Action Fund Endorses John Adler for Re-Election in New Jersey’s 3rd District

Washington, DC - The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Action Fund, which works to elect candidates who will implement sound environmental policies, today announced its endorsement of John Adler (NJ-03) for re-election to the U.S. House of Representatives. Rep. Adler received an outstanding 93% score on LCV’s 2009 National Environmental Scorecard, his first as a member of Congress.[1]

“Congressman Adler has quickly become an important leader in ensuring that America leads the 21st century’s clean energy economy,” said LCV President Gene Karpinski. “We are proud to endorse Congressman Adler for re-election because he is fighting for policies that will not only build a clean energy economy that gets New Jersey workers back on the job, but will also reduce our dangerous dependence on foreign oil and curb harmful carbon pollution.”

Adler’s support was crucial to the House’s passage of the American Clean Energy and Security Act, which would help create nearly 50,000 clean energy jobs in New Jersey.[2] Rep. Adler also supported the single largest investment in clean energy in history: more than $80 billion for energy efficiency, renewable energy and public transit in the economic recovery package, with substantial investments going to job-creating clean energy and energy efficiency projects in New Jersey’s 3rd district.

"It is in the best interests of our nation's economic and national security to reduce our dependence on foreign oil. I will continue to work to create clean energy jobs and solutions which will protect our environment, grow our economy and stop sending our money to hostile nations," said Congressman John Adler. "In a district which includes the Jersey Shore, Barnegat Bay and the Pine Barrens it is essential that we protect and preserve our environment."

Rep. Adler believes the nation must implement an energy plan that will drastically reduce its dependence on foreign oil, bring down the price of gas and create new jobs and businesses.[3] He also supports policies that would require 25 percent of the nation’s electricity to come from renewable sources.[4]
