LCV Action Fund Endorses Ron Klein for Re-Election in Florida’s 22nd District
Washington, DC - The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Action Fund, which works to elect candidates who will implement sound environmental policies, today announced its endorsement of Ron Klein (FL-22) for re-election to the U.S. House of Representatives. Rep. Klein received an outstanding 100% score on LCV’s 2009 National Environmental Scorecard and has an impressive LCV lifetime environmental score of 87%.*
“Congressman Klein has quickly become an important advocate for ensuring that America leads the 21st century’s clean energy economy,” said LCV Action Fund President Gene Karpinski. “We are proud to endorse Congressman Klein for re-election because he supports policies that will not only build a clean energy economy that gets Florida’s workers back on the job, but will also reduce our dangerous dependence on foreign oil and curb global warming pollution.”
Rep. Klein’s support was crucial to the House’s passage of the American Clean Energy and Security Act. Rep. Klein also supported the single largest investment in clean energy in history: more than $80 billion for energy efficiency, renewable energy and public transit in the economic recovery package, with substantial investments going to job-creating clean energy and energy efficiency projects in Florida’s 22nd district.
Rep. Klein has been very supportive of legislation to increase fuel efficiency for automobiles and protect Florida’s coasts from offshore drilling. As a current member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, Rep. Klein views investing in alternative fuel sources a vital step to increasing our national security by reducing our dependence on foreign oil.**
