LCV Action Fund Endorses Russ Feingold for Re-Election to the U.S. Senate
Washington, DC - The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Action Fund, which works to elect candidates who will implement sound environmental policies, today announced its endorsement of Russ Feingold for re-election to the U.S. Senate. In his 18 years in the U.S. Senate, Sen. Feingold has earned an impressive 95% LCV lifetime environmental score and he earned a perfect 100% on LCV’s 2009 National Environmental Scorecard.*
“Senator Feingold has long advocated for policies that will bring new clean energy jobs to Wisconsin, reduce our dangerous dependence on oil, protect the Great Lakes and improve the drinking water of millions of Americans” said LCV Action Fund President Gene Karpinski. “We are proud to endorse Senator Feingold for re-election because he is working to ensure that America – and more importantly Wisconsin – leads in the creation of the 21st century’s clean energy economy.”
First elected to the Senate in 1992, Sen. Feingold has shown a strong commitment to preserving our environment and transitioning to a clean energy economy. Sen. Feingold has worked to secure funding to improve energy efficiency in an effort to combat climate change and reduce energy costs, recent efforts helped to bring $20 million in Recovery Act funding to Wisconsin for energy efficiency building retrofits.**
Sen. Feingold played a key role in passing the historic Great Lakes Compact, vital legislation to protect the Great Lakes. He has also introduced the Clean Water Restoration Act, legislation to restore the drinking water of nearly 110 million Americans whose protections under the Clean Water Act have been undermined by recent Supreme Court decisions.***
Sen. Feingold is also featured on LCVAF’s GiveGreen website, http://lcv.org/givegreen, the only bundling website devoted exclusively to raising money for environmental champions and candidates.
